Over the weekend, we had a brand new security system installed.
We had a very busy weekend. We had multiple places to be on both Saturday and Sunday. It seemed we came in the house and unloaded, just to turn around and head out the door again. And as if that wasn’t enough, in between running to various different events, I attempted to decorate a couple of birthday cakes (which I hope to do a post on soon, IF I have time).
As Saturday slipped away, I realized if I wanted to have the birthday cakes done in time for the birthday party on Sunday, I needed to burn the midnight oil. So that is exactly what I did. I stayed up late, so that I could make some much needed progress on the second cake.
When Sunday morning arrived, I drug my tired, sleep-deprived self out of bed. I managed to put a smile on my face, go to a breakfast at our church, and then head over to mass. I was also able to get both cakes done just prior to the start of the birthday party.
By the time we returned home from the party I was exhausted. We unloaded the gifts, and our various other belongings and headed in the door. I simply didn’t have the energy to mess with putting anything away.
So as I prepared to go to bed last night, I walked by the back door once more.
Coats, shoes, socks, gifts, sweatshirts, and various other things from our weekend adventures were all scattered by the back door.
Instead of cleaning the mess up, I simply explained it to Dan.
“It is our new security system. If anyone tries to break in, they’ll fall and hurt themselves before they have a chance to get anything.”
And with that, I went to sleep.
