Spelling Test

Only At My House…

My son, Griffin, is in the third grade. He does really well in school, but it doesn’t come easy to him. He works very hard for the grades that he earns, which in turn means we work very hard.

Studying for spelling tests can be torturous. Between his lack of concentration and my dwindling patience, it can be a bit challenging to say the least. This morning was no exception. His test was today and we needed to go through his spelling words. Griffin told me the previous evening he knew them. However, after getting halfway down the list it was clear, he did not. I tried everything to get him to remember his spelling words, short of doing a song and dance. Oh, who am I kidding? I did that too!

As we approached 8 o’clock it was clear, ready or not, we had to leave. We live a short distance from the school, and I made use of the last few moments we had. We continued to practice his spelling words as I drove. When he stepped out of the truck, I handed him his list. “Promise me, you will look through these again…” We had worked so hard, but he just didn’t seem to know them.

So you can imagine my surprise this afternoon, when I looked in his folder and found…

an A+!!!

Way to go, Buddy! You did it!

We did it!

While he danced in front of the camera, I danced and smiled as I took his picture. A part of me felt like I had earned that “A”. And what a glorious feeling it was!

  1. The other day, while I was at work, my sister stole my apple ipad and tested to see if it can survive a 25 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now broken and she has 83 views. I know this is completely off topic but I had to share it with someone!
