We have all heard that there are elves at the North Pole. But, did you know there were elves at my house too? That is right! There were elves at 101 North Polk Street this year.
This is a busy time of year for everyone. There is so much to do. I, however, was stopped dead in my tracks last weekend when I became ill. As I tried to recover, the to-do list continued to grow. In addition, my illness left me weak. I have NEVER had such difficulty getting over an illness. I am just now getting back to “normal”.
Taking a shower left me fatigued. I had to rest after addressing a hand full of Christmas cards. How on earth was I going to be ready for Christmas when I couldn’t even do these simple tasks without effort? And then they appeared. Elves. Now you may think I was dehydrated, and beginning to hallucinate, but I am here to tell you differently.
Just like in Santa’s workshop, elves swooped into my home, and began to assist me. One elf walked my children home from the breakfast at our church. Another elf entertained my daughter for an evening. And yet another elf, delivered homemade soup. Oh, and let’s not forget the elf that took my children to school for me, and picked them up when I wasn’t able. Or the elf, that drove my tired body, so that I could finish my last minute shopping. That same elf came back days later to wrap ALL of our Christmas gifts.
And if that wasn’t enough…I noticed my family began to grow points on their ears. Before I knew it, there were four elves running through my house – cleaning! Vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, and scrubbing to the best of their abilities.
Elves invaded 101 North Polk this year!
I can’t thank them enough for they truly made my Christmas merry and bright!
